American Family Insurance Skijoring Loppet: Ski with your best friend - your dog.

Rossignol Junior Loppet: This five-kilometer race begins on Lake of the Isles and ends in Uptown. Open to anyone 19 and under.

Sons of Norway Minne-Loppet: Now with a daytime start, everyone is a winner in this fun event.The Sons of Norway Minne-Loppet is open to all kids ages 12 and under.

XC Ski News

Wirth Recreation Area, 1339 Theodore Wirth Parkway, offers trails for beginners, intermediates and ski skaters. Some trails are lighted. A new cross country loop, with snow-making capability, features 700-800 meters of skiing with a small practice area. The practice area and most of the loop are lighted.

A ½ km was added to the 2 km cross country skiing loop. Both the loop and the 800 meter practice area are lighted with snow-making capabilities.

Lessons

 

Winter Wirth Recreation Area offers beginner lessons on Saturdays and Sundays:

Learn the basics during 90 minute lessons designed for beginning skiers. Registration prior to scheduled classes is recommended because a minimum of four students is needed to hold a lesson. Walk-ins are welcome if there is room in an unfilled class. The lesson fee is $15. Call 612-370-3926 for registration and class time availability.
