Job Descriptions

Teaches beginning snowboarding using the American Teaching System at Theodore Wirth Snowboard Area. Must have good verbal communication skills.NOTE: At Wirth, our season typically runs from early December until mid-March, based upon weather and snow conditions.

Guest service experience required. Must pass snowboard skill test prior to hiring.

Teaching snowboarding is an exciting, demanding and rewarding job. The Theodore Wirth Platoon is looking for energetic and enthusiastic people who are driven to grow both personally and professionally. Our snowboard instructors work closely with our guests for extended periods of time and play an important role in their overall experience here at Theodore Wirth. We pride ourselves in our "small, family atmosphere", and our past seasons' growth of 800% tells you that we are doing things right around here.

We value flexibility, hard work, professionalism, a sense of humor, and initiative. Our length of season and our environment here at Wirth are a little bit different than at other local areas.

Positions most likely to be available for the 2009-2010 season are part-time instructor positions, including the children's snowboard programs. To apply, please submit an on-line application and include at least two contactable and current references.

General Staff Job Description

This is an outdoor job. Employees will be expected to dress appropriately with the understanding that their job is to supervise the outdoor snow activities at all times. This job entails, but is not limited to:

  • Checking customers for tow tickets sold within the chalet
  • Attaching and detaching tubers from the tow rope on the tubing hill
  • Giving instruction at the top and bottom of the hill to ensure the safety of all customers
  • Operating tow ropes to make sure all customers are safe
  • Maintaining overall safety and customer service on the hill to provide an exceptional experience for all customers
  • General maintenance of snowboard equipment
  • Fitting customers of all sizes for snowboards
  • Interacting personably with and assisting both children and adults

We are looking to employ workers for the whole winter season (Dec-Feb) as well as winter break only (Dec 19-Jan3). Shifts are generally 5-7 hours long and take place outside.

"I always wanted to learn that." If you have even said something like this about snowboarding then the Base Camp is for you. Choose from a single day, two day or three day camp. Base Camp Plus is a new camp this year and it is designed to get your kids outside on MLK and Presidents Day school breaks.

Base camp

Base camp is where you want to be if your interested in one or two full days of snowboard lessons, rental, food. Junior camp is for ages 7-17 and the adult camp is for everyone 18 or older.
